How We Are Going To Do It
- On December 12, the occupy movements in different cities will stage mass mobilizations to march on the ports, create community pickets, and effectively shutdown the hubs of commerce, in the same fashion that Occupy Oakland shut down the Port of Oakland on November 2nd, the day of our general strike.
- Since the anti-aparthied movement the ILWU historically respects and will not cross community picket lines. The Occupy movement will mass mobilize to the ports and create picket lines at the terminals and gates and will wait until the local arbitrator rules in favor of the longshore workers not crossing the lines.
- The rank and file of the ILWU have a long history of promoting social justice issues through shutdowns and not crossing picket lines. The rank and file of the ILWU not only support the occupy movement and December 12th, but are a part of the occupy movement, since they are among all of us who are struggling to take our lives back from the 1%.
- Occupations up and down the coast will take on the model of the November 2nd historic blockade of the Port of Oakland on the day of the general strike. In this instance up to 100,000 residents of Oakland marched onto the Port, also in solidarity with the longshoremens struggle against the EGT, and the longshoremen did not cross the picket lines.
If there is police violence or attempts by the police to disrupt the port blockade in any city on the West Coast, Occupy movements in other locations will extend the duration of their blockades in solidarity.
